Welcome! Like many, my yoga journey began for purely physical reasons. Being a bookworm with a job that required many hours on the computer left me pretty inflexible in certain areas. I knew stretching was important, but what I didn’t know was the other journey that path would lead me on…
Flash forward to now. Today I know that the physical postures we call yoga are only a small part of the picture. Yoga means “union” in Sanskrit, and it’s a wholistic system that integrates a multitude of methods to bring peace, calm and self-awareness to ourselves. There are many paths available on the yogic journey. I found that my path avoids handstands as much as possible, and instead prefers calming postures with lots of comfy props to support the body, meditations that allow one to lie down on the back and rest, and breathing techniques that relax the nervous system. Finding these techniques felt like coming home, and I hope to share these methods with others so that those who wish to can find peace and freedom with their bodies, minds and emotions.
